A serious fire broke out at Chelson Meadow Recycling Centre in Plymouth on Friday. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that electrical equipment piled 10 metres high caught fire, molten plastic and cabling were alight with crews attempting to separate and extinguish them. A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service explained that it was a complex task due to the nature of the fire. The fire started at approximately 11:30am and smoke could be seen billowing from miles away. Thankfully no one was hurt, Plymouth council have advised that the site is back open, and they are working quickly to get things back to normal. It has not yet been revealed what caused the fire.
